About the Mountain Name Generator

Pick a terrain, choose the landform whose word should appear in the name, and generate as many batches as you like. Every result carries a plausible elevation, and about a third carry a line of ascent lore. There is no account, no daily limit, and no premium tier, and everything the tool produces is yours to use in fantasy novels, tabletop campaigns, video game worlds, and worldbuilding projects, personal or commercial.

Built at map-label scale, on purpose

This site deliberately works at the scale of a physical map. Its corpus is built from original peak roots, terrain epithets, and landform words, assembled through the naming patterns real mountains actually follow: named for a person, named for their appearance, or named for a legend. The landform selector keeps the geography honest, so a spire comes out a spire and a range comes out a range, a distinction our guide to how mountains are named unpacks in full. The deterministic elevation and optional ascent lore are the tool's signature: they turn a bare name into something you can drop straight into a gazetteer. Every root is invented; the generator contains no real mountain names and nothing from existing franchises, so what it gives you is safe to build on.
